Mushroom Cultivation Workshop at The Acreage

Saturday, April 22 10:00-1:00 PM

The Acreage at Osceola is offering a mushroom cultivation workshop with local mushroom expert Tavis Lynch. Participants will learn cultivation methods for several species of mushroom on natural logs, composted straw, and sawdust. All class attendees will make and take an innoculated log to grow mushrooms at home.

About the Presenter

Tavis Lynch is a 30 year veteran of mushroom cultivation. He operates Tavis's Mushrooms, an 8000 log shiitake operation near Cumberland, WI. An expert forager and mycologist, Tavis is the author of "Mushroom Cultivation"(Quarto) and "The Beginner's Guide to Mushrooms" (Quarto).

The Acreage at Osceola is the primary charitable asset of the Horst Rechelbacher Foundation whose mission is to use its resources to protect the planet, and promote the well-being of people and all living things. Resting on 350 acres on the St Croix River, The Acreage is an ecological wonder featuring a prairie, oak savanna, river step, wetlands, and white pine forests. The Acreage is the ancestral home of the Wapekute, Dakota people. We acknowledge the deep history and connection the Dakota, Anishinaabe, and other native communities hold for this region and this land.
